Office of the Chancellor Coded Memoranda Collection, 1962-2000

The collection comprises coded memoranda issued by various departments and units within the California State University Office of the Chancellor, 1962-2000.

Each department within major divisions of the Chancellor's office used the coded structure in their dissemination of policy and procedure to the campuses. Most campuses filed such correspondence consecutively and indexed them appropriately, thereby making it easy to find the memorandum for reference. All divisions used this type of coding structure until the early 1990's, when it was discontinued by some. Other units within the Office of the Chancellor continued to generate coded memoranda. By the late 1990s, a number of the units still generating coded memos began distributing the information exclusively in electronic format and, as is the case with some offices, made the documents accessible in full text on the CSU Web site.

Indices organized alphabetically by the office or unit within the Chancellor's office which generated the memos. All existing indices in the Collection have been digitized; hyperlinks below connect to these indexes.

Please note that there are gaps in the Archival file; the absence of links on the following list means that the Archives does not have in its possession the index for that particular unit and year. The Archives is in the process of updating this index and adding more memoranda. Please contact us if you have any questions.
