Japanese Garden at CSUDH

Ground was broken and sanctified for for the Community-Campus Japanese Garden at CSU Dominguez Hills on February 19, 1978. During the ensuing eight months, volunteers from the Gardena Valley Gardeners' Association, Pacific Coast and Los Angeles chapters of the California Landscape Contractors Association, and the Centinela chapter of the California Association of Nurserymen joined with CSUDH administrators, faculty, staff and students in the first community-campus effort of this nature and magnitude. The volunteer workers selflessly contributed labor, materials, and technical expertise to make the dream a reality. Other members of the community and campus responded with monetary contributions in a mutually supportive effort.
